How it works...

STEP ONE

TO GET ON THE MAP...

A school completes a simple Preliminary Program Summary with names of music courses or programs and grades served for the current (2017-18) school year. We also ask schools to identify what programs they would like to start if they had the resources. You should be able to complete this summary in 10 minutes or less.

STEP TWO

TO STAY ON THE MAP:

Schools have two weeks to complete the full School Data Survey and Administrator Certification for the previous (2016-17) school year.

These surveys take a deeper dive into number of students served, sessions per year, contact instructional hours, teacher/student ratio, space & facilities, music field trips, arts partners, etc. The School Data Survey can be completed by the music teacher or another staff member, and must be certified by a school administrator.

OPTIONAL STEP

Music educators and teaching artists are invited to participate in the Community of Practice Survey. This survey is optional and completely anonymous, and will be used to identify trends, challenges and opportunities in the field. It covers areas like teaching practice & pedagogy; types of contracts & benefits; and training & professional development needs.
